‘We Are The Workers’ (2007) is a film by John Hughes and Liz Murray. It depicts a group of Chinese workers having an, at times, heated debate with a western woman at night. Shot in black and white through a hand-held camera, the viewer never knows or indeed finds out what the group are discussing. Instead, the camera focuses on the workers faces whilst a dissonant harmonica appears to pick out a complexity of emotions on show.
